Originally filmed and released during the Spring 2021 LIVE From London season at the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, this performance of Bach’s Mass in B minor returns to the platform in Easter 2026, exactly five years after its first broadcast. Streamed from the Church of St Bartholomew the Great in London, the concert brought together VOCES8 expanded to a 15-voice ensemble, the Academy of Ancient Music on period instruments under the direction of Barnaby Smith, with an outstanding line-up of soloists including Carolyn Sampson, Iestyn Davies, Jeremy Budd and Matthew Brook. Recorded behind closed doors yet received by a global audience, it has since become one of LIVE From London’s most requested former releases - a landmark performance whose clarity, expressive solo contributions, and richly detailed Baroque soundworld continue to resonate long beyond its original moment.
